No. Granite is an igneous rock formed from magma deep inside the earth. The heat from a hot pot or pan will not damage your countertop under normal conditions. The one exception worth noting is placing a very hot item on an extremely cold surface, which can cause a pre-existing hidden crack to expand. Under normal kitchen use this is not a concern.
