Engineered Stone

Performance Built into Every Slab

Quartz countertops are engineered from 90 to 95 percent natural quartz crystal, bound with polymer resins and pigments to create one of the hardest, most consistent surfaces available for kitchens and bathrooms.

Because quartz is manufactured, it delivers what natural stone cannot.  A non-porous surface that resists staining without sealing, consistent color from slab to slab, and predictable performance over decades of daily use.

Legacy Marble & Granite carries quartz from leading manufacturers including MSI, Vicostone, and Viatera.  All available to view in our Findlay showroom.

Why Quartz

What Makes Quartz the Right Choice?

01

No Sealing Required

Quartz is non-porous, which means it never needs to be sealed. Unlike granite or marble, there’s no annual maintenance ritual.  Just clean it and use it.

02

Stain & Bacteria Resistant

The non-porous surface prevents liquids from penetrating, making quartz highly resistant to stains from wine, coffee, oils, and everyday kitchen spills.

03

Scratch Resistant

No two slabs are ever the same. The mineral composition of each piece produces patterns and colors that are entirely unique, giving your home a surface that cannot be duplicated anywhere else.

04

Consistent Color & Pattern

Unlike natural stone, quartz delivers uniform color and pattern across slabs. Ideal for large kitchens where multiple slabs need to read as one seamless surface.

05

Hundreds of Color Options

From crisp whites and concrete grays to dramatic blacks and marble-inspired veining.  Quartz offers more design variety than any natural stone material.

06

Long-Term Durability

Most manufacturers offer residential lifetime warranties. Quartz is built to outlast trends, renovations, and decades of household use without losing its appearance.

Colors & Patterns

A Color & Style for Every Kitchen.

Maintenance & Care

Easy to Live With. Every Day.

One of quartz’s biggest advantages is what you don’t have to do. No sealing, no special cleaners, no annual maintenance. Just a clean surface that’s ready when you are.

  • Wipe up spills with a damp cloth and mild soap.  That’s all that’s needed for daily cleaning
  • Avoid harsh abrasives or acidic cleaners that can dull the surface over time
  • Always use trivets for hot pots and pans,  sustained heat can damage the resin binders
  • Use a cutting board. quartz is scratch resistant but not scratch proof
  • No sealing required, now or ever

Quartz Countertop Questions

No — they’re completely different materials. Quartz is an engineered product made from crushed quartz crystals and resin. Quartzite is a natural metamorphic stone. They look different, perform differently, and are priced differently. We carry both and can walk you through the comparison in person.

Never. Quartz is non-porous by nature of its engineered construction. Unlike granite or marble, it does not absorb liquids and does not require sealing at installation or any point afterward.

We recommend against it. While quartz is heat resistant up to a point, the polymer resin binders can be damaged by sustained high heat. Always use a trivet or hot pad. This is the one area where granite and quartzite have a meaningful advantage over quartz.

Pricing varies by color, brand, and thickness, but quartz and granite are typically in a similar range. Some premium quartz colors are higher than mid-range granite; some exotic granites run well above quartz. We’ll give you an honest side-by-side comparison at your consultation.

Yes — and some do it exceptionally well. Modern quartz manufacturing technology creates realistic veining patterns that closely mimic Calacatta marble, Carrara, and other natural stone looks. You get the aesthetic without the porosity or maintenance demands of actual marble.
