The kitchen countertop is the single most visible surface in your home. It sets the tone for the entire space — the colors, the textures, the feel of the room before a single cabinet door opens or a burner lights. Getting it right matters.

At Legacy Marble & Granite, we’ve helped hundreds of Northwest Ohio homeowners transform their kitchens with custom stone countertops. We personally source our slabs from quarries around the world, fabricate every countertop in our Findlay shop, and install with our own crew. No subcontractors. No surprises. One team, start to finish.

Whether you’re renovating an existing kitchen in Findlay or building new construction in Perrysburg, we’re your local experts for granite, marble, quartz, quartzite, and soapstone countertops throughout Northwest Ohio.

Kitchen Countertop Materials

Find the Right Stone for Your Kitchen

Every material has real strengths. We help you match the right stone to the way you actually cook and live — not just what looks good in a photo.

Natural Stone

Granite

The most popular natural stone for kitchens. Incredibly durable, highly heat resistant, and available in an enormous range of colors and patterns. Every slab is unique. Sealing required.

Engineered Stone

Quartz

The low-maintenance kitchen workhorse. Non-porous, never needs sealing, and available in hundreds of colors including marble-inspired designs. Use trivets for hot pans.

Natural Stone

Quartzite

The hardest natural stone — harder than both granite and marble. Stunning marble-like veining combined with serious durability. The best of both worlds for active kitchens.

Natural Stone

Marble

The most beautiful stone in the world — and a legitimate kitchen surface with the right care. Best for homeowners who appreciate the patina that comes with a natural material living in a real home.

Natural Stone

Soapstone

Naturally non-porous. Exceptional heat resistance. No sealing ever required. A unique, dark, silky surface that develops beautiful character over time. A favorite of serious home cooks.

Not Sure?

Come into our Findlay showroom and see all five materials side by side — in full slab format, in real lighting. Our team will help you choose based on how you actually use your kitchen.

Kitchen Islands

The Island Is the Centerpiece. Make It Count.

A kitchen island countertop gets more use, more attention, and more judgment from guests than any other surface in the home. It needs to perform at the highest level and look exceptional doing it.

Island countertops present an opportunity to make a statement — a contrasting stone, an oversized slab with dramatic movement, or a mitered edge that creates the appearance of a thick, monumental piece of stone. Our design team loves working through island selections because the options are genuinely exciting.

Common Questions

Kitchen Countertop Questions We Hear Every Day

These are the questions Northwest Ohio homeowners ask us most often when planning a kitchen renovation.

Granite remains the most popular natural stone for kitchens due to its heat resistance, durability, and the fact that every slab is unique. Quartz has grown significantly in popularity because it requires no sealing and offers consistent color across large surfaces. In recent years, quartzite has become an increasingly preferred option for homeowners who want the beauty of marble with the toughness of granite. The best choice depends on how you cook, how much maintenance you’re willing to do, and what look you want to achieve.

From the time we template your space to installation, fabrication typically takes one to two weeks. Your cabinets must be fully and permanently installed before we can template. Once installed, most kitchens are completed in a single installation day. We’ll give you a specific timeline at your consultation so you can plan your renovation schedule around it.

It depends on the material. Granite, quartzite, and soapstone all handle direct heat well — they were formed by heat and are essentially thermal-stable under normal cooking conditions. Quartz is more heat-sensitive — the polymer resin binders can be damaged by sustained direct heat, so trivets are recommended. Marble can handle occasional heat but is susceptible to thermal shock over time. We recommend using trivets as a habit regardless of material — it protects your countertop and keeps your sealer intact longer.

Countertop pricing depends on material, slab selection, edge profile, and the square footage of your project. Mid-range granite and quartz typically run in the $65–$120 per square foot installed range. Exotic quartzites and premium marbles can run higher. We build estimates that show what’s possible at multiple price points — come in with your measurements and budget and we’ll show you everything that’s available within your range.

We serve all of Northwest Ohio including Findlay, Lima, Bowling Green, Perrysburg, Toledo, Tiffin, Sandusky, Ottawa, Upper Sandusky, Marion, Port Clinton, and surrounding communities.
